Gesha Village × Santuario Project
2011年の農園のスタートから5年が経過した2016年に初めての収穫を迎え、2017年には1200袋を生産し、多くのバリスタやロースターによってその品質を認められ、世界中にその名が広がりました。
その後も歩みを止めることなく、栽培から生産処理・乾燥まで全てのプロセスに妥協せず、先住民の守ってきた文化に敬意を示し、エチオピア最高の品質、そして最も環境に配慮した農園であり続けるよう日々努力しています。
コロンビアのSantuario農園を営むカミーロ氏とは2009から親交があり、スペシャルティコーヒーに特化し、コロンビアで一から農園を開拓した先人として、当時より理想とする農園について多くを語り合ってきた仲です。
カミーロ氏が各国で行うSantuario Projectで培ってきた生産処理のノウハウをエチオピアで再現すべく、2020年にSantuario ProjectとGeshaVillageの共同事業が発足。
2年間の協働の末に新しい生産処理手法を用いた新しいフレーバーが今誕生しました。

Their first encounter with Ethiopia came in 2007, when they visited the country to produce a documentary on its exceptional coffee.
It was during this visit that their passion for Ethiopia, its people, and its coffee industry was ignited.
Shortly thereafter, they began searching for land in Ethiopia suitable for a new venture growing the Gesha variety, and they discovered this plot in Benchi Maji.
This untouched land provided them with a unique opportunity to build their dream coffee farm from the ground up, while also offering a one-of-a-kind environment close to the Gori Gesha Forest—the birthplace of Panama Gesha. Today, they produce coffee in collaboration with the local Meannit indigenous people.

Freshly harvested coffee cherries are sent to elevated drying beds known as “African beds,” where the beans are dried while still inside the whole fruit (cherry).
Gesha Village × Santuario Project
In 2016, five years after the farm’s inception in 2011, we welcomed our first harvest. By 2017, we had produced 1,200 bags, and our coffee’s quality was recognized by many baristas and roasters, spreading our reputation worldwide.
Since then, we have never stopped moving forward. We remain uncompromising in every process—from cultivation to processing and drying—while showing respect for the culture preserved by the indigenous people. We strive daily to remain Ethiopia’s highest-quality and most environmentally conscious farm.
We have been friends with Mr. Camilo, who runs the Santuario farm in Colombia, since 2009. As a pioneer who specialized in specialty coffee and built a farm from scratch in Colombia, we have long discussed our vision for the ideal farm.
In 2020, a joint venture between the Santuario Project and GeshaVillage was launched to replicate in Ethiopia the processing know-how that Camilo has cultivated through the Santuario Project in various countries.
After two years of collaboration, a new flavor profile utilizing this innovative processing method has now been born.
